About the Role

Desian Education is recruiting an exceptional KS2 Teaching Assistant on behalf of a supportive primary school in St Helens.

You will work full-time providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 2 pupil with ADHD and challenging behaviour. Your role is critical in helping this pupil manage their emotions, stay focused on tasks, and access the curriculum effectively.

This long-term position spans the entire academic year, with a strong possibility of being extended or transitioning into a permanent contract.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Provide 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with ADHD, keeping them engaged in learning.
• Manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively using positive reinforcement.
• De-escalate difficult situations using established behaviour management strategies.
• Implement focus intervals and tailored breaks to help the pupil regulate attention.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver individual behaviour plans.

 

 

Requirements

 

• Previous experience working in a primary school in a similar 1:1 behaviour support role.
• Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, assertive, and resilient approach.
• Good understanding of ADHD and how it impacts learning and social interaction in KS2.
• Ability to build strong rapport and trust with pupils who display challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
