About the Role

Desian Education is recruiting a passionate Early Years Teaching Assistant on behalf of a welcoming primary school in St Helens.

You will work full-time within a dynamic Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting. Your primary responsibility is supporting the learning, development, and well-being of nursery-aged children.

This long-term position offers excellent stability with a strong possibility of transitioning into a permanent role for the right candidate.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Deliver engaging activities aligned with the EYFS statutory framework.
• Support early literacy and numeracy through creative play-based learning.
• Observe and record child development to assist with progress tracking.
• Maintain a safe environment that fosters curiosity and independence.
• Partner with teachers to manage classroom routines and positive behavior.

 

 

Requirements

 

• Recognised Early Years qualification is essential (e.g., Level 2 or 3 NVQ in Childcare).
• Previous experience working in a primary school nursery or private nursery.
• Deep understanding of EYFS learning goals and safeguarding practices.
• Warm, energetic personality suited to nurturing very young children.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
