Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Year 3 ADHD

Desian Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school who are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and compassionate TA who is confident supporting children with additional needs and understands the importance of building positive relationships, trust and consistency.

The pupil is a loving, capable and engaging young boy who is currently on the ADHD pathway. He benefits from a calm, patient and nurturing approach, alongside consistent routines and positive behaviour strategies.

The role will involve:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
• Supporting the pupil to access learning and engage positively within the classroom
• Recognising and managing avoidance behaviours through positive and proactive strategies
• Supporting with sensory needs and providing appropriate sensory breaks
• Facilitating additional movement breaks throughout the school day
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
• Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm, consistent approach

What you need to succeed:

• Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
• Has experience supporting children with SEN/additional needs, particularly ADHD or similar needs
• Is patient, nurturing and able to build strong professional relationships with pupils
• Understands positive behaviour management and proactive support strategies
• Is confident recognising and responding to sensory needs
• Can remain calm and consistent when faced with avoidance or challenging behaviours
• Is committed to helping children reach their full potential
