Desian Education are currently seeking a compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in a Year 2 class at a warm and inclusive primary school in the Wirral.

This is a full-time, long-term position, ideal for someone with previous SEND experience—whether gained in a school, nursery, care, or other educational setting.

Working hours are 8.30am-3.30pm.

 

The Role

Supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis within a Year 2 classroom
Assisting with learning tasks, emotional regulation, and classroom routines
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies
Encouraging independence and building confidence through tailored support
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to the wider staff team

 

What you will need

  • Experience supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to pupil wellbeing
  • Experience in a primary school setting is desirable but not essential – transferable skills from other settings (e.g., nurseries, care, secondary, specialist provision) are valued
