Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs?

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming mainstream primary school on the Wirral for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within their specialist SEN Base from September.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting pupils with a range of additional needs in a nurturing and well-resourced environment.

This role is ideal for individuals with previous experience supporting children with SEN who are committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

 

The Role 

  • Supporting pupils within the school’s SEN Base, both individually and in small groups
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to deliver tailored support
  • Assisting pupils with their learning, communication, emotional regulation and social development
  • Implementing individual support plans and strategies
  • Encouraging independence while providing appropriate levels of support
  • Supporting positive behaviour and promoting inclusion throughout the school day
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and families

 

Essential Requirements 

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a relevant role supporting children
  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

 

Highly Desirable 

  • Experienced supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, SEMH, or other additional needs
  • Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2, Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Experience working within an SEN school, resource base, or specialist provision
  • Knowledge of strategies to support communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation
