SEN Teaching Assistant – KS3 & KS4

Desian Education are working in partnership with a specialist academic SEN secondary school in Winsford who are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND and would enjoy working within a structured, academic secondary environment.

Your new role:

The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, with every pupil having an EHCP outlining their individual requirements and provision.

The majority of pupils are high functioning and working broadly in line with the KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum, meaning this role would suit a Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting pupils with their academic learning while adapting resources and approaches to meet individual needs.

For pupils who are not accessing the full National Curriculum, the school provides opportunities to develop vocational skills and alternative learning pathways, helping pupils build independence and prepare for life beyond school.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 with their academic learning.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required.
• Supporting pupils to access the National Curriculum and vocational learning.
• Adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual SEND needs.
• Delivering targeted interventions to reinforce classroom learning.
• Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to implement individual EHCP provision.
• Building positive and professional relationships with pupils.
• Encouraging engagement, participation and positive attitudes towards learning.

What you need to succeed:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience within a secondary school or similar educational setting.
• Confidence supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4.
• A good understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by pupils with additional needs.
• The ability to adapt your approach to suit individual learning profiles.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A patient, consistent and nurturing approach.
• A genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their academic and personal potential.
