Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a supportive two-form entry primary school in Widnes, who are looking to appoint a highly experienced and Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant to join their KS1 team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who has a strong understanding of KS1 curriculum delivery, phonics and targeted intervention work, and who is confident supporting pupils of mixed abilities.
Your new role:
The successful Teaching Assistant will work across the Year 2 cohort, supporting pupils both within the classroom and through targeted intervention sessions.
A key part of the role will be leading core subject interventions for mixed and lower-ability pupils, helping to close gaps in learning and build confidence across English and Maths.
You will also take responsibility for delivering Read Write Inc. (RWI) phonics sessions, supporting pupils to develop their phonological awareness, reading fluency and confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:
·      Working across both Year 2 classes to provide targeted support.
·      Leading English and Maths interventions for mixed and lower-ability pupils.
·      Delivering targeted RWI phonics sessions.
·      Supporting pupils to develop their reading, writing and mathematical skills.
·      Identifying gaps in learning and adapting support accordingly.
·      Working closely with class teachers to plan and deliver effective interventions.
·      Providing additional classroom support where required.
·      Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
·      Encouraging confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
What you need to succeed:
·      Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
·      Have strong previous experience working within a primary school, ideally across KS1.
·      Have experience delivering targeted interventions in English and Maths.
·      Be confident delivering RWI phonics.
·      Have a good understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
·      Be confident supporting pupils with varying levels of attainment.
·      Have a patient, encouraging and adaptable approach.
·      Be able to work independently while contributing effectively to the wider school team.
·      Have a genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
