Desian Education

Desian Education are looking for an experienced and passionate SEMH Primary Teacher to work on a long-term, ongoing basis in a welcoming primary school in St Helens.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is confident supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and understands that positive relationships, consistency and patience are key to helping children succeed.

As the SEMH Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a calm, structured and engaging learning environment where pupils feel safe, supported and able to make progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEMH needs
  • Building strong and positive relationships with pupils
  • Using effective strategies to support behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing appropriate feedback
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs and other school staff
    Maintaining a consistent, nurturing and positive classroom environment

 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification
  • Has experience working within a primary school setting
  • Ideally has previous experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs
  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive and supportive way
  • Is patient, resilient and approachable
  • Can build trusting relationships with children who may have experienced barriers to learning
  • Is committed to making a genuine difference to pupils’ educational and personal development
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to get one.
