SEN Teaching Assistant – Designated Provision

Desian Education are proud to be supporting a Runcorn-based single form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport. This extremely inclusive and collaborative school is looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term temporary contract, with temporary to permanent being considered for the right person.

This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join a school that is held in extremely high regard in the local authority and play a pivotal role in the Education and development of pupils with specific SEMH needs.

Your new role:

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining a highly experienced and welcoming SEN cohort, working in collaboration with the SENCO, teachers and other teaching assistant to encourage the development and engagement of pupils with SEMH. You will support across two dedicated SEMH provision consisting of 14 pupils within each class, offering tailored 1:1 trauma informed support for your pupils. The pupils you will be supporting all have SEMH and have unfortunately been subject to trauma throughout their early life. To support their emotional development, regulation and confidence you will used trauma-informed delivery models in all aspect of their education, with typical duties that will consist of:

• Implementing an array of positive behaviour strategies
• Delivering 1:1 interventions and boosters and tailor lessons to suit individual needs to break down learning barriers

What you need to succeed:

• Full “Right to Work” in the UK
• Relevant referenceable classroom experience
• A passion for supporting disadvantaged children
• An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
• An Enhanced Children’s DBS or willingness to obtain
• Be able to commit to a full-time contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week
