1:1 Teaching Assistant – Non-verbal

Desian Education are proud to be supporting a Frodsham based single form entry primary school as they require a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis due to additional funding. This is a full-time 1:1 position based within a year 2 class.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school you will be supporting a non-verbal pupil in year 2 on a 1:1 basis, acting as their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-up at the end of the day. The pupil you will be supporting is extremely loving but due to their needs they are falling behind on the curriculum and are struggling to integrate into the class. You will:

• Support their communication and speech by delivering tailored 1:1 sessions
• Use of PECs, Makaton and other visual references
• Intense interventions within a separate classroom
• Working in collaboration with SALT

What you need to succeed

• Full “Right to Work” in the UK
• Experience using PECS and Makaton (SALT is also advantageous)
• Have an Enhanced Children’s DBS certificate or willing to obtain
• Experience supporting SEN is essential
• Relevant referenceable classroom experience
