You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and the wider school team to provide consistent, nurturing and personalised support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life
  • Implementing individualised strategies in line with EHCPs
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Developing positive relationships with pupils and helping them build confidence and independence
  • Delivering targeted interventions and learning activities where required
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
  • Maintaining a calm, consistent and nurturing approach

What you need to succeed:

The successful candidate will be an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting
  • Experience providing 1:1 support
  • Understanding of ASD, SEMH and behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to adapt your approach to meet individual pupil needs
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards supporting inclusion
  • Experience working with PDA or demand-avoidant profiles would be particularly advantageous, although relevant SEN experience will be considered.

What you’ll get in return:

  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • A full-time, long-term contract.
  • Full holiday entitlement.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Free training and professional development.
  • Dedicated support from an experienced Desian Education consultant.
  • Access to exclusive teaching vacancies.
  • Desian Education’s Refer a Friend scheme.
