Desian Education

Are you someone who can think on their feet, use their initiative, and build strong, supportive relationships with children?

We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 who is currently working at Foundation Stage level. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a nurturing approach and the ability to adapt learning experiences to meet individual needs.

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to support a pupil who benefits from regular movement and sensory breaks throughout the day. There are no behavioural needs, but the ability to recognise when the pupil needs time away from the classroom is essential.

The pupil responds particularly well to sports and active learning, so an interest in physical activity or outdoor learning would be a great asset in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support tailored to KS1 learning
  • Use your initiative to identify when breaks or changes in activity are needed
  • Deliver engaging, practical learning activities that include movement and sport where appropriate
  • Foster a positive, calm, and encouraging environment
  • Liaise with teaching and support staff to ensure consistent provision
  • Support the pupil in developing confidence, independence, and a love of learning

What we’re looking for

  • Has experience working with children in EYFS or Key Stage 1 (desirable)
  • Can confidently adapt their approach in response to a pupil’s needs
  • Has a patient, flexible, and proactive attitude
  • Confident supporting on a 1:1 basis

What We Offer

  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • A designated local consultant
  • Competitive daily rate
