Desian Education is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to work in a specialist primay setting in Wigan, supporting pupils aged 5–11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a experienced SEN Teacher to join a nurturing and supportive school community that places strong emphasis on high expectations, positive relationships, and personalised learning. The role will involve teaching across teaching mixed year 5/6 class of 9 pupils,  adapting learning to meet individual needs and supporting pupils’ academic, emotional, and social development.

The Role

  • Teaching pupils with SEMH needs in Upper KS2

  • Working collaboratively with support staff and external professionals

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience as an SEN Teacher, particularly SEMH, is highly desirable
  • Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, nurturing approach
  • Flexible, resilient, and passionate about inclusive education
  • Committed to supporting every child to reach their full potential

Year 2 Teaching Assistant

Are you someone who can think on their feet, use their initiative, and build strong, supportive relationships with children?

We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 who is currently working at Foundation Stage level. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a nurturing approach and the ability to adapt learning experiences to meet individual needs.

 

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to support a pupil who benefits from regular movement and sensory breaks throughout the day. There are no behavioural needs, but the ability to recognise when the pupil needs time away from the classroom is essential.

The pupil responds particularly well to sports and active learning, so an interest in physical activity or outdoor learning would be a great asset in this role.
