Year 6 Teaching Assistant

Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive single-form entry primary school in Widnes, who are looking to appoint an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Year 6 team on a full-time, ongoing basis.

Your New Role:

Working within a Year 6 classroom, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with high-functioning SEND, helping them access the curriculum, develop their independence and engage positively within the school environment.

Alongside your 1:1 responsibilities, you will also play an important role in supporting the wider class through:

• Providing consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with high-functioning SEND
• Delivering intensive 1:1 and small-group interventions in core subjects
• Supporting pupils with their literacy and numeracy development
• Providing general classroom support alongside the class teacher
• Helping pupils build confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
• Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team.

What you need to succeed:

The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting children with SEND within a primary school setting and be confident delivering targeted interventions.

You will ideally have:

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis
• Confidence delivering literacy and numeracy interventions in line with the KS2 national curriculum
• A patient, proactive and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other support staff
• A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their potential
