Are you passionate about early years education? Desian Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistant to support a reception class in a welcoming Widnes primary school.

 

The Role

We are looking for a 1:1 classroom teaching assistant to work full-time in a vibrant and supportive Reception class. This long-term position offers consistency and the opportunity to become an integral part of the school community. You will be working closely with a child to support them both in class and around the school.

This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday 8.30am-3.30pm term time. The role will be starting as soon as possible and will run to the end of the academic year (July 2026).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging EYFS curriculum activities
  • Assisting with early maths and literacy development
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and social skills
  • Helping to prepare resources and maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment
  • Providing one-to-one or small group support when needed
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

 

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in an early years setting (private day nursery or primary school setting)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s development and wellbeing
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Desian Education)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are beneficial but not essential

Year 2 Teaching Assistant

Are you someone who can think on their feet, use their initiative, and build strong, supportive relationships with children?

We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 who is currently working at Foundation Stage level. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a nurturing approach and the ability to adapt learning experiences to meet individual needs.

 

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to support a pupil who benefits from regular movement and sensory breaks throughout the day. There are no behavioural needs, but the ability to recognise when the pupil needs time away from the classroom is essential.

The pupil responds particularly well to sports and active learning, so an interest in physical activity or outdoor learning would be a great asset in this role.
