Desian Education are proud to be supporting an extremely inclusive and supportive mainstream primary school in Warrington that is at the heart of it’s local community as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant for a full-time temporary contract starting from September. Subject to funding this position will last the entirety of the academic year.

Your new role:

As a teaching assistant within this school you will be based within a mixed EYFS & KS1 ASD and sensory designated provision. You will be supporting a class of 14 pupils with varying levels of ASD, ranging from high to low functioning, all of whom also have sensory requirements, and a select few also being non-verbal. You will support their education and development by taking a pupil-centred approach to their support, ensuring that their individual needs, ECHP requirements and personalities are catered for. You will:

  • Use positive behaviour strategies such as traffic light systems, sensory play/therapy, and utilisation of the sensory room
  • Use Makaton, PECs and other objective/visual references to support communication
  • Support during break and lunch time
  • Support with personal/intimate care

 

What you need to succeed:

  • Full “Right to Work” in the UK
  • A passion for supporting young people with SEN
  • Experience supporting SEN, ASD is essential
  • Relevant referenceable experience supporting children and young people with complex needs within a classroom or residential capacity
  • An Enhanced Children’s DBS or willingness to obtain
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week
