Desian Education are proud to be supporting a two-form entry primary school in St Helens that is held in high regard by it’s local community as they are looking to appoint a qualified and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time temporary contract with an immediate start available and will last the rest of the academic year.

 

Your new role

This is an extremely inclusive and welcoming school that require a full qualified teaching assistant to support pupils with SEN across the EYFS and KS1 classes on a timetabled basis. You will be supporting pupils with a variety of needs including ASD, non-verbal and LD, so the ability to take an pupil and EHCP-led approach as to ensure that each pupils needs are met is imperative. Your duties will include:

  • 1:1 speech interventions including SALT, PECs and Makaton
  • Sensory stimuli and fine motor skills development
  • Use of phonics and letters and sounds to support speech
  • Implementing positive behaviour strategies

 

What you need to succeed

To be considered in your application you must:

  • Have relevant referenceable classroom experience
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN (ASD and non-verbal is highly advantageous)
  • Be at least NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified
