Year 6 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location: St Helens

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only 

We are currently seeking a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in St Helens. This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a Year 6 pupil, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and make positive progress in the classroom.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to ensure the pupil receives the support they need both academically and emotionally during this important stage of their primary education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil throughout the school day
• Support the pupil in accessing the Key Stage 2 curriculum
• Implement strategies to help maintain engagement, focus, and positive behaviour
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
• Assist with the development of social, emotional, and communication skills
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
• Monitor, record, and report on the pupil progress where required
• Encourage independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom
• Support the pupil during breaktimes, transitions, and school activities when necessary

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have previous experience working within a primary school setting
• Have experience supporting children with additional learning needs and/or SEND
• Be patient, caring, and adaptable in their approach
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children’s educational and personal development
