Primary Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEN Support – Key Stage 2)

Desian Education are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in St Helens that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with additional needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and to achieve their full potential within a supportive school environment.

The Role 

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provided tailored support to a pupil in Key Stage 2 with additional needs
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies and learning plans
• Help promote engagement, independence, confidence and social development
• Assist the pupil both inside and outside the classroom as required
• Build positive relationships with the pupil, staff and parents/carers
• Support the delivery of a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant
• Experience supporting children with additional needs, such as Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs
• A patient, understanding and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to adapt learning and support strategies to meet individual needs
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Requirements 

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Relevant experience working with primary-aged children
• Two satisfactory references covering the last two years
• Right to work in the UK
