Desian Education are proud to be supporting an extremely well-regarded two-form entry primary school in St Helens as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time contract starting after the Easter holidays. This is a full-time contract that will last the remainder of the academic year, with a permanent contract being considered for the right individual.

This is an extremely supportive and welcoming school that are looking to appoint a motivated teaching assistant to support in their newly established ASD designated provision. You will be joining an extremely experienced and supportive SEND team and play an integral part in the education of 32 pupils across a number of specialist classroom. You will take a EHCP-led curriculum model as to ensure that the needs of all pupils are at the heart of all operations with core duties that consist of:

  • Use of Makaton, PECs, SALT and other objective references to support speech development
  • Promoting inclusivity and integrating pupils into new groups
  • Working in collaboration with external professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupation therapists, educational psychologists and more
  • Implementing an array of positive behaviour strategies
  • Assisting with personal/intimate care

 

What you need to succeed

To be considered in your application you must have full “Right to Work” in the UK, be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS screening, and:

  • Have recent referenceable experience supporting children and young people
  • Have experience supporting SEN (ASD and/or non-verbal is preferred)
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
  • Be comfortable completing personal/intimate care requirements

Year 2 Teaching Assistant

Are you someone who can think on their feet, use their initiative, and build strong, supportive relationships with children?

We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 2 who is currently working at Foundation Stage level. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a nurturing approach and the ability to adapt learning experiences to meet individual needs.

 

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to support a pupil who benefits from regular movement and sensory breaks throughout the day. There are no behavioural needs, but the ability to recognise when the pupil needs time away from the classroom is essential.

The pupil responds particularly well to sports and active learning, so an interest in physical activity or outdoor learning would be a great asset in this role.
