Intervention Teaching Assistant – KS3 & KS4

Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a large and well-established secondary school in Northwich, who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience within a secondary setting while playing an important role in supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4.

Your new role:

Working collaboratively with class teachers and the wider pastoral and support team, you will provide classroom-based support to pupils across KS3 and KS4, helping them remain engaged, focused and confident in their learning.

A key element of the role will be supporting lower and mixed-ability pupils, ensuring they receive the additional guidance and encouragement required to access the curriculum successfully.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 within the classroom
• Working closely with class teachers to promote engagement, learning and focus
• Providing targeted support to lower and mixed-ability pupils
• Leading small-group interventions across core subjects
• Supporting pupils to develop their literacy and numeracy skills
• Implementing positive behaviour strategies to promote engagement and learning
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience
• Adapting your approach to meet individual learning and behavioural needs
• Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff to provide consistent pupil support

What you need to succeed:

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and reliable Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working within a secondary school environment
• Experience supporting pupils across KS3 and/or KS4
• Confidence delivering small-group interventions
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Experience supporting pupils with varying abilities
• A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour management
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively alongside class teachers
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs would be advantageous.
