SEN Teaching Assistant – Mixed Reception & Pre-School class

Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with an extremely inclusive and welcoming single-form entry primary school in Ellesmere Port, situated at the heart of its local community.

Due to continued demand for additional classroom support, the school are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term temporary basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an experienced and supportive EYFS team, working within a mixed Nursery and Reception class at a school with an excellent reputation across the local authority.

Your New Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will join an experienced EYFS cohort and work closely with the class teacher to support the learning, development and engagement of pupils across the Nursery and Reception age groups.

Your role will be varied and rewarding, including:

• Supporting the class teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and creating a safe, nurturing learning environment.
• Supporting pupils through learning-through-play activities.
• Promoting social interaction, communication and fine motor development.
• Delivering small-group phonics and reading comprehension interventions to Reception pupils.
• Providing targeted support to pupils with additional needs.
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to meet individual learning needs.
• Supporting pupils with EHCPs to access learning and develop their independence.
• Using Makaton and PECS to support communication.
• Assisting with personal and intimate care where required.

This is an extremely inclusive EYFS environment, making it an ideal opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with younger pupils and is passionate about supporting children with a range of additional needs.

You will play an important role in helping pupils develop their confidence, communication, independence and early learning skills, whilst gaining valuable experience across both Nursery and Reception.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Full Right to Work in the UK.
• A minimum of 40 days’ referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.
• NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification.
• An Enhanced Children’s DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN/additional needs.
• A patient, nurturing and proactive approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive EYFS team.
