Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new opportunity within a supportive primary school?

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Knowsley from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term role supporting pupils across Key Stage 2, including providing targeted support for children with additional needs.

 

The Role

As a KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, development and wellbeing. The role will involve supporting children on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping pupils to access the curriculum, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils across Key Stage 2 with their learning and development.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Assisting with the delivery of literacy, numeracy and intervention sessions.
  • Supporting pupils to remain engaged and focused during lessons.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Adapting support strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher with classroom preparation and organisation.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals where required.
  • Promoting safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing at all times.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Experience supporting children in Key Stage 2.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND and additional needs.
  • Understanding of strategies to support pupils with a range of learning, communication and behavioural needs.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A positive, patient and proactive approach to supporting children.
  • A genuine passion for education and helping pupils succeed.

 

Compliance Requirements:

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is highly desirable.
  • Candidates who do not currently hold a DBS on the Update Service must be willing to apply for a new Enhanced DBS check and provide the relevant documentation.
  • All applicants will be subject to satisfactory references and standard safer recruitment checks.
