Y6 Academic Intervention Teaching Assistant

Desian Education is currently recruiting a motivated and skilled KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Birkenhead. This long-term role is due to start after the October half-term break and is expected to run through to the May half-term break. After the May-Half term break the successful candidate will be placed to support in year 5 for the last half-term of the academic year.

The school is seeking additional support across two Year 6 classes, focusing on delivering targeted academic intervention in Maths and English as pupils prepare for their SATs examinations. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact at a crucial stage in the pupils’ education.

This is a part-time role supporting 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Wednesday.

Role Responsibilities
• Work with small groups of Year 6 pupils to deliver focused interventions in Maths and English
• Support the class teachers with preparation and delivery of learning resources
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
• Help build confidence and motivation in pupils working towards their SATs
• Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment

What You Will Need
• Experience supporting KS2 learners, ideally in Year 6
• Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English
• Confidence in leading small group interventions
• A proactive and adaptable approach to learning support
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
