1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 6

Desian Education are proud to be supporting a well-established two-form entry primary school in Widnes that is at the heart of it’s local community as they are looking to appoint a reliable and motivated teaching assistant for a long-term full-time contract. This role will start after the easter holidays and will last the remainder of the academic year.

Your new role

This extremely collaborative and supportive school require a teaching assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis due to additional funding. You will support a loving and charismatic year 6 pupil on a 1:1 basis, acting as their main point of contact throughout the school day. This pupil is an extremely loving individual but has been struggling to access the curriculum due to behavioural needs. They spend equal time outside of the classroom and have previously tried to abscond. To promote their learning and education you will:

• Build a strong constructive relationship
• Implement positive behaviour strategies to promote engagement and integration
• Plan and delivering 1:1 interventions in core subjects

What you need to succeed

• Full “Right to Work” in the UK
• Be willing to undergo an enhanced children’s DBS check
• Have relevant referenceable classroom experience (experience in upper KS2 is advantageous
• Having an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
